The Waxahachie Daily Light announced, “Dan’s the Man” and the campaign began!

Born and raised in Waxahachie to Dee and Dr. Robert M. Cox, Dan graduated from Waxahachie High School eager to attend Texas A&M University. He graduated in 1978 with a degree in Agricultural Economics. He later graduated from St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. Shortly thereafter, he set up and maintained a private law practice for most of the next 28 years.

After retiring from private practice, he worked for two years at Roofing & Restoration Services of America as a Production Manager. Though enjoying his time away from the practice of law, he was blessed to be offered and gladly accepted a position with Ellis County & District Attorney’s office. In this new position, he worked as the prosecutor in all four Justice of the Peace Courts. This position peaked his interest and ultimately led to his decision to run for the Justice of the Peace of Precinct 3. Upon the announcement of the retirement of then sitting Judge, Curtis Polk, Sr., Dan applied for and was appointed by the members of the Ellis County Commissioner’s Court to fill the unexpired term. Judge Dan Cox was sworn in as Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3 Judge on December 29, 2017.

Judge Cox and his wife, Shasta, have six children. Jon and Jaclyn Cox of Cuero, Jenny and Jon Seymore Ryan and Ashley Haight, Abby and Lance Hunt, Jordan and Amber Pendley and Mitch Cox all of whom attended WISD and continue to reside in Waxahachie. Dan enjoys getting to spend time with his nine grandchildren any chance he gets. His favorite past times include taking road trips with Shasta to the Hill Country, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, finding the latest “hole-in-the-wall” restaurants and being outside with his pack of pups.

His faith in God and the love he has for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, join to make up the backbone of all things that Judge Dan Cox is and all that he aspires to be. It is with his belief and faith in God along with his past 28 years in the legal profession that Dan feels he can be an even-handed steward and Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3 to make a positive impact on the community of Ellis County.

Judge Dan Cox is looking forward to his service as Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3 Judge and hopes to remain in his position by securing YOUR vote in the upcoming election!
